Helda, Digital Repository of the University of Helsinki will be updated to a new version on Tuesday 24.7.2018. During the update, the underlying DSpace software will be upgraded to version 5.5.
The update causes a downtime in Helda. The break is on Tuesday 24.7.2018 afternoon and takes a couple of hours (estimated 2-4 hours).
More space for reading and working is being made available on the floors 2, 4 and 7 in the Main Library. In addition to the installation of new furniture, old furniture is moved from one floor to another, causing some noise. We are sorry for any inconvenience.

Members of faculty personnel with access to Chemicum, Exactum, or Physicum at the Kumpula Campus have received also 24h access to the Campus Library, with a separate application.
The practice of granting the 24-hour access to the library will be discontinued and the access rights will be terminated on Friday May 18th, 2018. After the renovation, the library’s facilities are available to faculty staff during opening hours.
The Kumpula Campus Library will be closed for summer 2018 due to renovation. The last day the library will be open before the renovation is Friday, 18 May 2018.
The library’s facility upgrade project is part of a broader project that involves the Faculty of Science and the University’s Student Services. The library’s aim is to create a versatile and flexible learning environment on the first floor, as well as in the remaining space on the second floor (about half of the current area).

Twentieth-Century Global Perspectives Collection- American Proxy Wars: Korea and Vietnam, Global Perspectives 1946-1975 is available in the University of Helsinki until 25.5.
American Proxy Wars: Korea and Vietnam includes translated and English-language radio ant television broadcasts, newspapers, periodicals, government documents, and books covering the Korean and Vietnamese conflicts.

The collection Twentieth-Century Global Perspectives Collection – Propaganda and the Chinese Press, Global Perspectives 1946-1996, is now available in the University of Helsinki until 25.5.
Database includes articles published by major communist Chinese newspapers from 1946-1996, collected and translated into English by the CIA.
