New education videos in JoVE available !

University of Helsinki has access to the videos Basic Biology, Chemistry and Clinical Skills in Jove Science Education.

Basic Biology includes: General Laboratory Techniques, Basis Methods in Cellular and Molecular Biology, Essentials of Biology 1: yeast, Drosophila and C. elegans sekä Essentials of Biology 2: Mouse, Zebrafish, and Chick.

Chemistry includes: Essentials of General Chemistry, Essentials of Organic Chemistry, Essentials of Analytical Chemistry.

Talentum dictionaries are not available after 6.5.2016

MOT Pro Englanti and MOT Pro Ruotsi will replace Talentum dictionaries, starting from 1.6.2016.

On Wednesday May 4th libraries are open as follows:

– Kumpula, Terkko, Viikki 9-16
– Dental Library 9-15.

Learning Centres
– Aleksandria 8-17:45
– Minerva 8-17:45.

On Thursday May 5th (Ascension Day) libraries and learning centres are closed.
Aleksandria can be accessed with a magnetic key.

On Friday May 6th libraries and learning centres are open:
– Main Library 8-20
– Kumpula, Terkko, Viikki 9-16
– Dental Library closed
– Aleksandria 8-19:45
– Minerva 8-19:45.

Opening hours during Easter

During Easter the libraries are closed from Good Friday until Easter Monday March 25th to March 28th, 2016.

On Maundy Thursday (March 24th), the libraries are open as follows:
– Kaisa House 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.
– Kumpula, Terkko and Viikki 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
– Dental Library 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

The Main Library in Kaisa House will be open on four Sundays after Easter from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Learning Centres Aleksandria and Minerva are open 8 a.m. – 5:45 p.m. on Maundy Thursday. Aleksandria can be accessed with magnetic key during Easter (from 7 a.m. until 1 a.m.).

It takes only HUPS and library material is on researcher’s desk!

Service for the University of Helsinki and HUCH researchers

HUPS is a Helsinki University Library’s service for researchers, using which the Helsinki University and HUCH staff can order books and copies of journal articles free of charge from the Helsinki University Library’s collections.

The material is delivered directly to researcher and the researcher therefore does not have to retrieve it from the library personally.

Some researchers have already become regular users of the service.

Literature arrives in the mailbox

Trial of the HUPS service started in May 2015. In half a year, over 300 orders have been made from all over the University. Requests have mostly been for article copies, little more than a third of the orders have been books. As a rule, orders have been delivered within a few days.
