Instructions for exchange students who missed the Welcome Fair or arrive late

In case you missed the Welcome Fair or did not have a chance to get all official things sorted out at there, we have gathered a checklist of the things you will need to do after your arrival:

  • Pay the Student Union Fee at the Student Union Office by the end of January, if you have not paid it yet and if you wish to join Student Union.
    – If you arrive in January and wish to join the Student Union you can go directly to the Student Union Office to pay the membership fee.
    – If you arrive after January  you first need to collect a certificate of your late arrival from the International Exchange Services before you go to the Student Union Office (International Exchange Services , University main building, street address: Fabianinkatu 33, 1st floor, Office hours: Mon-Thu 10-15:00)
  • Go to the International Exchange Services to get your Certificate of Attendance and a student discount certificate for public transportation
  • Go to the public transportation service office (HSL) and get your travel card with student discount. Closest office is at the Central Railway station, in the tunnel before you go to the metro.
    – Remember to have an ID with you
  • If you are an Erasmus student, please take a look at our previous blog post for info on where to go with your learning agreement and arrival certificate etc.
  • Go to the IT Services to receive your IT-user account and password
    – City Centre:Learning Centre Aleksandria , street address: Fabianinkatu 28, open Mon – Fri: 9 -16:00
  • If you have joined the Student Union, apply for Lyyra Card (student card)
    – You need the student number, which you can find on your Certificate of Attendance
  • Registration for courses may have ended
    – Contact the teacher and ask if you can join the course
    – If the registration for a course has not ended, please register at Weboodi, as soon as possible (IT-user account is needed)
    – If you have questions about course selection, please contact your host faculty at UH
