Tieteestä toimintaa (‘academic action’) network gathers people who want to create more academic entrepreneurship. Network opens new doors for different projects and start-ups. Organizer Outi Kuittinen from think tank DEMOS HELSINKI shares her insights and experiences on Academic action -network.
You are organizing together with the students Academic Action -network. What is it all about?
It is about promoting entrepreneurial action and mindset at the University of Helsinki. Academic action –network started functioning last spring and now it is in full swing.
Entrepreneurial mindset is important because we are facing major global problems and we need solutions from many actors. To solve those problems we need fresh and innovative thinking and most of all – action. Entrepreneurial action is also a new way to build more meaningful work. We also have to renew our work life.
In October we traveled to Amsterdam and Copenhagen by boat and train. The mission of our journey was to learn more about meaningful entrepreneurship, to develop business ideas and build new networks. We have also organized workshops to develop our skills and we have planned one of the Vox Helsinki events.
How can we join?
We organize gatherings and events at least twice a month. All events are open for everyone to join. Now it’s a really good change to join: we organise an Entrepreneurship week at University’s Think Corner (Aleksanterinkatu 7, Centre campus) 28th Jan–1st Feb.
Thursday we have sessions in English. There is lunch hour session on “How to make business with knowledge?”. In the evening there is Entrepreneurship Speed date with students from Aalto Entrepreneurship Society and Laurea Entrepreneurship Society. On Friday we are talking about the future of entrepreneurship at the University of Helsinki. After the discussion there is drinks and a band! Check the whole programme from here.
