New databases: Synthesis Lectures on Human Language Technologies and Le Grand Robert

Synthesis Lectures on Human Language Technologies  series consists of 50- to 150-page monographs on topics relating to natural language processing, computational linguistics, information retrieval, and spoken language understanding. Emphasis is on important new techniques, on new applications, and on topics that combine two or more HLT subfields.

Le Grand Robert French Dictionary contains 100 000 words, 325 000 citations and 350 000 meanings, synonyms, verbs and etymology.

The archives of over 120 mathematical and statistical journals from Springer have been acquired, among them  Acta Mathematica and  Archive for Rational Mechanics and Analysis. You can browse all these journal in NELLI. There are 269 Springer journals  in these fields; half of them are now available electronically from the first volume.

In addition of the archives of the journals mentioned above, we have acquired the archive of Nature (1869-).

Religion, Spirituality,Society and Reform (NCCO) archive collection provides essential documentary materials that explore religious and philosophical movements in reaction to dramatic changes in culture and society wrought by the industrial revolution and modernity. Faith and skepticism shaped many aspects of nineteenth century life, including politics, law, economics, and social and reform movements.

Ancient Commentators on Aristotle on Trial (til December 24)

Ancient Commentators on Aristotle  is  a prestigious scholarly project, which translates into English the principal works of the Neoplatonist commentators on Aristotle. Each of the 100 volumes includes a translated text accompanied by an introduction, comprehensive commentary notes, a bibliography, a glossary of translated terms and a subject index.

The trial is restricted to Helsinki University students, faculty, staff and the local users of the National Library and  the units of the Helsinki University Library.
