Geo degree programme June board meetings // Geo-koulutusohjelmien kesäkuun johtoryhmäkokoukset

Geoscience degree programme boards had their last joint meeting on Friday, June 11 and the Geo^2 board met once more right before the mid-summer and beginning of the holiday season in order to approve the last six MSc theses for the academic year 2020–2021 on Thursday, June 24.

The major issue in the joint meeting on the 11th was the permanent increase of student intake, which has been on the national agenda of higher education for a while now. The programmes have discussed the possibility of increasing the number of incoming students and the decisions on this will most likely happen during the next academic year.

The geo degree programmes will continue their activities again in August and also the Geo-Edu -blog will go on a summer break for the entire July. Check back with us before the beginning of the autumn semester!

Geotieteiden koulutusohjelmien viimeinen yhteinen johtoryhmäkokous pidettiin perjantaina 11.6. ja Geo^2 maisteriohjelman johtoryhmä tapasi vielä juuri ennen juhannusta ja lomakauden alkua torstaina 24.6. hyväksyäkseen viimeiset kuusi lukuvuoden 2020–2021 maisterintutkielmaa.

Tärkein 11.6. yhteisessä kokouksessa käsitelty aihe oli opiskelijoiden sisäänoton kasvattaminen, josta on keskusteltu kansallisella tasolla jo jonkin aikaa. Molemmat geo-ohjelmat ovat selvittäneet mahdollisuuksiaan lisätä sisään otettavien opiskelijoiden määrää ja päätöksiä asiasta tehtäneen tulevan lukuvuoden aikana.

Geo-ohjelmat ja myös Geo-Edu -blogi siirtyvät juhannukselta koko heinäkuun kestävälle kesätauolle ja toimintaa jatketaan taas elokuun alussa. Tervetuloa takaisin geotieteiden pariin taas syyslukukauden alkaessa!
