Kaisa House Group Work Room Reservations in the Office 365 Calendar

Starting July 1st, reservations for the 10 group work rooms in Kaisa House will be made using the Office 365 calendar. It is no longer possible to make reservations in the former system, Timmi, after June 2016.

The group facilities can only be reserved by the students and staff of the University of Helsinki. To make a reservation you need a Helsinki University Office365 account and calendar. You can find the Kaisa House group work rooms in the calendar under “Kaisa-talo Group Study Room”.

Starting in summer 2016, all Helsinki University Library group work rooms will be reserved with the Office 365 calendar. In addition to the Kaisa House group work rooms you can also find group work rooms from the following places in the calendar: Viikki Campus Library, Learning Centre Aleksandria, and Learning Centre Minerva. Starting in August you will also be able to reserve the group work rooms of the Kumpula and Meilahti Campus Libraries using the calendar.

Change in reservation practices for group work rooms in the library

Library and learning centres closed on Midsummer 24.-26.6.

Helsinki University Library and the learning centres are closed on Midsummer June 24th-26th. Kaisa House and the learning centres are open again after the Midsummer. See opening hours here.

Kumpula, Meilahti and Viikki campus libraries will be closed until the end of July. During this time you can be in contact with Kaisa House customer service.

Kaisa House’s and Learning Centre Aleksandria’s summer opening hours begin on Saturday, June 18th. Both houses will be closed on Saturday.

Summer opening hours from June 1st

Library has summer opening hours from June 1st to August 21st.

  • Kumpula, Meilahti and Viikki Campus Libraries are closed from June 24th to July 31st.
  • The Dental library is moving to the Meilahti Campus Library Terkko and is open for the last time on June 17th 2016.
  • Main Library Kaisa House and Learning Centre Aleksandria are closed on Saturdays from June 18th to August 21st.

Opening hours during Easter

tiputDuring Easter the libraries are closed from Good Friday until Easter Monday March 25th to March 28th, 2016.

On Maundy Thursday (March 24th), the libraries are open as follows:
– Kaisa House  8 a.m. – 6 p.m.
– Kumpula, Terkko and Viikki 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
– Dental Library 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

The Main Library in Kaisa House will be open on four Sundays after Easter from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Learning Centres Aleksandria and Minerva are open 8 a.m. – 5:45 p.m. on Maundy Thursday. Aleksandria can be accessed with magnetic key during Easter (from 7 a.m. until 1 a.m.).

Library’s and learning centres’ opening hours

Kaisa House is open on Sundays in March and April

From March 6th until April 24th the Main Library will be open from 11 am to 5 pm on Sundays, with the exception of Easter holidays (from Friday March 25th to Monday March 28th), during which the building will be closed.

Entrance on Sundays is from Fabianinkatu and by lift from Kaisaniemenkatu (1st floor) or from Helsinki University metrostation (floor K1).

Finland’s most popular learning environment works as a self-service library

On Sundays Kaisa House will function as a self-service library. The collections and facilities are available to customers on floors 2-7. The customer service on the 3rd floor and the underground floors (K4, K3, K2) are closed.

You can pick up your reservations as a self-service from the open shelves at the service desk. Phone service will be available should you have problems using the library or the self-service facilities.

In case you need a guest login for the University network or copy cards (e.g. for printing), you have to get these earlier in the week.

The Learning Centre Aleksandria accessible with magnetic key all Sunday

Learning Centre Aleksandria (Fabianinkatu 26) is open on weekdays from 8 am to 7:45 pm, on Saturdays from 11 am to 4:45 pm and closed on Sundays. Students at the University of Helsinki are able to access the Learning Centre outside these opening hours from 7 am until 1 am with a magnetic key obtainable from the IT User Accounts service point. Library collections have moved from K2-floor in Kaisa House

The collections of Asian and African Studies, Classical Studies and Theology have been transferred from the floor K2 to the floor K3. New locations can now be found in the Helka database.

The 17 working spaces there will be available until June 30th 2016. After that date the K2 floor will no longer be a part of the library.
