Serge Dauchy

Serge Dauchy is Research Director at the CNRS (Lille-France) and professor at the University Saint-Louis in Brussels (Belgium), where he teaches History of European Public Law as well as History of Justice.  His main research topics are the history of civil procedure, the French Parlements, legal argumentation (ratio decidendi) and the history of colonial Québec. He has recently also written on the history of commercial law. From 2002 to 2014 he was director of the Centre d’Histoire Judiciaire (CNRS – University of Lille) and since 2010 he is director of the Doctorate school in Legal and Political Sciences of the University of Lille. S. Dauchy is member of the editorial board of Tijdschrift voor Rechtsgeschiedenis / Legal History Review, Clio@Thémis and Comparative Legal History. He is also President of the royal Commission for the Publication of ancient laws of Belgium.

S. Dauchy was awarded the Sarton Medal for History of Science for the academic year 2009-2010.
