Free online course Learn Moodle 3.8 Basics starts on January

Learn Moodle Basics 3.8 starts on Mon 13 January, and lasts for four weeks.  If you’re interested, please sign up here: learn.moodle.org. You’ll receive a reminder before the course begins.

The completion of the course is optional, so you can also participate to see execution of the course, and complete the assignments at your own pace.

The course Learn Moodle 3.8 Basics is a MOOC which means:

M = Massive – allows access to a very large number of participants.
O = Open to everyone.
O = Online – you can study remotely via the Internet.
C = Course – the course has a beginning and an end (a given period of time), it includes assignments, there is defined some learning objectives, and there is some interaction between participants.

The Learn Moodle 3.8 Basics offers

  • ideas of how to use Moodle in a more versatile way in your teaching.
  • experience in studying with a MOOC.
  • a great opportunity to connect with a global Moodle community and share your ideas with other teachers using Moodle all around the world.
  • an introduction to the new Moodle version 3.8. (that the University of Helsinki will most likely introduce on June 2020).

Welcome to Moodle-miitti!

In Moodle-miitti on Mon 3rd June at 9-12 o’clock teachers present their pedagogical solutions and the e-learning environment Moodle’s more advanced functions. Presentations are in Finnish.

At the Moodle-miitti, you will meet other Moodle teachers and hear their good practices and ideas on using Moodle. The event is ideal for those who have just started Moodle’s use and who have used Moodle for longer.

If you are interested in how the settings of Moodle activities are implemented, take part also in the afternoon at Moodle & MOOC Clinic.

Moodle & MOOC trainings and clinics in spring 2019

Are you a new Moodle teacher?

  • Come to Moodle Basics on Mon 21st January from 2.15 to 5 pm. on City centre campus! More information and enrollment in Henkka Helsinki University’s Training Calendar.
  • Take part on Learn Moodle 3.6 Basics. This Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) starts on Monday 7 January 2019 and will run for 4 weeks. MOOC is organized by Learn Moodle. This free course is designed for anybody who wants to use the Moodle learning platform for teaching. It is also a great opportunity to connect with the Moodle community. The course offers also introduction to Moodle version 3.6. which the University of Helsinki will introduce in summer 2019. The completion of the course is optional, so you can also participate to see execution of the course, and complete the assignments at your own pace. Registrate here: https://learn.moodle.net

  • 14th January from 8 to 10 AM at City centre campus, Siltavuorenpenger
  • 27th February from 1 to 3 PM at Viikki campus
  • 19th March from 2 to 4 PM at Meilahti campus
  • 10th April from 1 to 3 PM at Kumpula campus
  • 6th May from 3 to 7 PM at City centre campus
  • 3rd June from 2 to 4 PM at City centre campus

In the clinic, you can focus on building your own course by creating your own online lesson – based on your own needs for your courses. The eLearning experts will go around the class and help you as needed. Some topics can be raised to a whole class teaching in the training, according to the needs and wishes of the participants.
