Call for presentations

Call for presentations opens and submissions can be made until 31.1.2023

You can propose either 1) a single presentation or 2) a symposium consisting of a few (2-4) presentations on the same theme. A symposium proposal may consist of presentations, papers, oppositions or discussant by teachers, researchers and students, for example. The symposium convenor will send a compiled symposium abstract summarising the content and conduct of the symposium. You may also propose a technology presentation (15 min) or a workshop (90 min).

We appreciate presentations that include a student representative, or at least their voice is heard in the presentation, e.g. through received feedback.

Decisions on the acceptance of abstracts will be made during the application period, or shortly after the deadline in February. So send your abstract as soon as possible!

Please write an abstract (max. 150-200 words) and a title in the language of the presentation. The languages of the event are Finnish, Swedish and English. Include the estimated duration.

Forms of presentation

1. Single presentation (15 minutes plus 5 minutes discussion) Requirements for a theoretical, empirical or practical single presentation:  An abstract of 100 – 250 words.

2. Symposium (90 minutes including discussion)

Symposia provide an opportunity to present on one topic, often from multiple perspectives, compiling a coherent set of presentations for discussion. Symposia sessions are directed by a chair, involving up to four presenters and one discussant, preferably from different faculties, involving students, if possible. Requirements for the symposium as a whole: • A title clearly describing the symposium • An abstract of 100 – 250 words providing information regarding the aims, the scientific and educational relevance of the symposium

Requirements for each individual presentation in the symposium: • The title of each presentation (four presentations per symposium) with the name and affiliation of each author.

3. ICT Demonstrations or practical innovations (15 minutes)

ICT Demonstrations or practical innovations allow presenters to display, explain and familiarise users with a potentially useful teaching or research tool or method. The presentation may include references to completed research, but the point of the session is to demonstrate the tool or new practical approach, not present the research for criticism. The audience may offer their viewpoints and share their experiences with similar tools or different tools for the same purpose. An abstract of 100 – 250 words required.

4. Workshop (90 minutes)

Workshops provide an opportunity to familiarise participants with some aspect of research or teaching practice, so that questioning and discussion are suitably informed. Learning-by-doing occupies most of the session, and any presentations are brief. Providing adequate time for reflective discussion is important.

A title of up to 100 characters (including spaces). • An abstract of 100 – 250 words.
