University of Helsinki
The Opening Ceremony is the kick-off event of ULLA Summer School 2019 in Helsinki.
It will take place on Saturday, June 29 at the Small Festivity Hall of the main building of the University of Helsinki, a building with an H-shape right next to Helsinki’s main attraction, the Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Cathedral.

Prof. Vincenzo Cerullo received his Ph.D. in Biotechnology from the University of L’Aquila and University of Naples “Federico II”. In 2011, Prof. Cerullo joined the University of Helsinki as adjunct professor of experimental virology. In 2012, he established his own research group: the Immunovirotherapy Lab (IVTLab). In 2016, Prof. Cerullo became a tenure-track associate professor at the Division of Pharmaceutical Biosciences, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Helsinki, and also the Head of the Drug Research Program.
Prof. Jukka Rantanen received his Ph.D. from the University of Helsinki in 2001, completed postdoctoral visit at the Department of Industrial and Physical Pharmacy (Purdue University, USA) in 2003, and joined the University of Copenhagen as a full professor in 2006. Currently, Prof. Rantanen is professor of pharmaceutical technology and engineering at the Department of Pharmacy of the University of Copenhagen.
Prof. Arto Urtti received his Ph.D. in Pharmacy in 1986 (University of Kuopio, Finland). He served as Associate Professor of Pharmaceutical Technology and professor of Biopharmaceutics at the University of Kuopio. Prof. Urtti has obtained international research experience as a post-doctoral fellow (University of Kansas) and visiting professor (University of California San Francisco and University of Wisconsin). Prof. Urtti led the Centre for Drug Research at the University of Helsinki from 2005 to 2015.
