Greetings from the European Coral Reef Symposium (ECRS), Naples, Italy!
I’m Henriikka, a recent graduate from the ECGS Master’s programme, University of Helsinki. I attended the symposium this July to present our research on the impacts and benefits of active coral reef restoration in Nusa Penida, Bali, Indonesia.
This project began already in 2022 as my master’s thesis project in collaboration with Indo Ocean Project, an Indonesian marine conservation program. Pascal, the Scientific Director and Lead Marine Biologist of Indo Ocean Project, also attended the symposium.
I’m excited to be turning my thesis into a journal article, and events like this are perfect for feedback and networking. Grateful for the HiLIFE conference funding that helped me attend the symposium and represent our university!
