Petri Ekqvistin kuva_sikrustaiteilijaOman motivaation seuraaminen ja sen kuunteleminen on tärkeä osa mitä tahansa harjoittelua. Jokainen päivä ja harjoitus on erilainen ja kyky muuttaa suunnitelmaa, tinkimättä kuitenkaan omasta visiostaan, on tärkeää. Tulee hetkiä, jopa kausia, jolloin kaikki tuntuu haasteelliselta. Silloin on tärkeää ymmärtää, että yksipuolinen harjoittelu voi olla haitallista kokonaisuuden kannalta. Joskus treenimotivaatio voi löytyä muualta kuin punttisalilta. Silloin jopa oman mukavuusalueen haastaminen ja vaihtoehtoisten harjoitusmuotojen löytäminen voi tuoda harjoitukseen syvyyttä ja mahdollisesti myös uutta näkemystä vanhaan harjoitukseen. Jos harjoitteluun liittyy kohtuuton määrä pakkoa ja ulkoisia arvoja, vaikeutuu mahdollisesti jo ennalta asetettujen tavoitteiden toteutuminen huomattavasti.

Usein hyppäämme kuitenkin asioiden edelle, jolloin jo matka salille on pitkä siinä vaiheessa kun ymmärrät että juoksumatto ei olekaan sinun juttusi ja haaveesi kesäkunnosta rapautuvat jo viikon kovan harjoittelun jälkeen. Tällöin omiin päätöksiimme sitoutuminen vaatii jopa epämiellyttävän määrän johdonmukaisuutta.

Monesti meidän on vaikea hyväksyä sitä, että tikkaita on mahdoton kiivetä kädet taskussa ja pakotamme vartalon tekemään liian aikaisin asioita, mihin se ei ole valmis. Samalla vartalo kuitenkin vaatii asioita, mitä päämme on vaikea hyväksyä. Tällöin on hyvä tehdä arvio omista henkilökohtaisista vahvuuksista ja heikkouksista jotka ovat tulleet esiin harjoittelun aikana.

Kyvyttömyys arvioida omaa matkaa kohti ennalta asetettuja tavoitteita saattaa kuitenkin johtaa kokemukseen, missä parasta ennen -päivämäärä tulee eteen jo kauan ennen kuin jossain epämääräisessä tulevaisuudessa häämöttävä päämäärä on saavutettu. Kesäkunnosta puhutaan paljon, mutta se on kuitenkin vain haave ilman jalkoja niin kauan kun joudut piiskaamaan itsesi salille etkä nauti itse tekemisestä – pidä rima tarpeeksi matalalla. Kaikkeen hyvinvointiin ja kehitykseen liittyy ponnistelua ja harvoin edellisen kevään ahkerointi tuottaa enää toivottuja tuloksia. Vähitellen kykenet haastamaan itsesi myös henkisellä tasolla, mutta jos et ole käynyt salilla edellisen kevään jälkeen, et voi aloittaa penkkipunnerrusta sadalla kilolla.

Parhaassa tapauksessa harjoitus nostaa sinut myös tasolle, jossa omat ja ympärillä olevat mahdollisuudet lakkaavat olemasta pelkkiä itsestäänselvyyksiä ja niistä tulee rakennuspalikoita, jotka ovat käytettävissäsi silloin kun niitä tarvitset. Silloin sinun on myös mahdollista havaita, että mestariksi ei synnytä vaan matka on usein tärkeämpi kuin itse määränpää. Tällöin harjoituksen edetessä saattaa hetkittäin myös muistua mieleen se usein unohdettu itsestäänselvyys, että elämä onkin ihmisen parasta aikaa ja että maalissa ei enää ole mitään saavutettavaa. Nautitaan siis matkasta!
