1) Säännöllisyys on kaiken A ja O

Kuntoa ei voi “varastoida” vaan elimistömme vaatii säännöllisesti uusia ärsykkeitä. Jos uutta harjoitusärsykettä ei tule tietyn palautumisajan jälkeen niin elimistö palautuu vähitellen harjoitusta edeltävälle tasolleen eikä pidempiaikaista kehitystä tapahdu. Terveyden ylläpitämisen kannalta pitäisi tutkitusti parantaa kestävyyskuntoa liikkumalla useana päivänä viikossa yhteensä ainakin 2 tuntia 30 minuuttia reippaasti TAI 1 tunti 15 minuuttia rasittavasti. Sen lisäksi lihaskuntoa ja liikehallintaa pitäisi kohentaa ainakin kaksi kertaa viikossa.

2) Tavoitteet ohjaavat valintoja

Liikkumisella olisi hyvä olla aina jokin tavoite. Liikkumisesta tulee onnistumisen kokemuksia, kun pääsee asettamaansa tavoitteeseen ja tämä puolestaan motivoi keksimään uuden tavoitteen ja pitää liikkeessä. Jos olet asettanut tavoitteeksesi esimerkiksi juosta 10km matka jossain tapahtumassa ja kun väsyneenä pohdit jäätkö illaksi sohvalle vai käytkö juoksemassa lenkin niin tavoite toivottavasti ohjaa sinut jälkimmäiseen vaihtoehtoon. Tavoitteen ei tarvitse olla myöskään välttämättä mikään kilpailu vaan se voi olla vaikkapa 10 000 askeleen ottaminen päivittäin tai muu arkista liikkumista tukeva tavoite.

3) Liikkumisen pitää olla hauskaa

Liikkumista on hyvin vaikea pitää säännöllisenä eikä tavoitteitakaan tule varmasti asetettua, jos liikkuminen tuntuu vastenmieliseltä.
