Field Course: LATE CENOZOIC CRUSTAL EXTENSION AND COEVAL MAGMATISM IN DEATH VALLEY, CA: WHAT DRIVES EXTENSION?

The Finnish Doctoral Program in Geology and Doctoral Program in Geosciences, University of Helsinki will arrange a 7-day field course fopr doctoral students and supervisors in the heart of the Basin and Range Province in Death Valley, California [Program outline]. The course amounts to 5 ETC credits and is intended for doctoral students who specialize in petrology, bedrock geology, structural geology, tectonics, and geophysics. In total, 12 students can be accommodated in the course. The immediate costs (airfare, lodging, field transportation; food, insurances and accessories excluded) will be in the 1700 – 2000 euro range (determined by how the EUR/USD exchange rate will develop in 2015). The doctoral program will reimburse 1500 euros per participating student.
