The emotional capital of solidarity: Understanding sympathy with victims of online misogyny

What does it mean to show solidarity with victims of online misogyny? We seem to know a lot more about the factors that support the expression of hostility online than we do about positive forms of social support and solidarity. In this talk I explore various forms of solidarity when confronted with misogyny online. I look primarily at how different forms of solidarity are framed and communicated online. The talk explores the discursive accomplishment of potentially transformative empathy for victims of misogyny and implications for wellbeing and resilience.
