Don’t let these fake photos of Hurricane Sandy fool you

Thanks to Twitter and other social media outlets, it’s easier than ever to share stories. For example when Hurricane Sandy begun to pummel the East Coast, numerous dramatic pictures flooded Twitter and Facebook. Only problem was, many of the pictures making the rounds were entirely fake. Here are gathered some of the most glaring examples of purportedly “real” Sandy viral photos. One of them is real, but didn’t happen during Sandy.

The images of destruction in New York and New Jersey were stunning. Some were photoshopped, some of the photos were real, but had nothing to do with Sandy. These pictures spread extremely quick and caused also a lot of panic. While tens of journalist were producing stories about real situation by risking their lives, some were having fun in social media by designing more and more those striking photos. Was this occasion citizens’ art or irresponsibility of social media users?
