Permanent or Tenure-Track Position in Hebrew Bible and Cognate Studies at University of Helsinki

The Faculty of Theology invites applications for the position of PROFESSOR/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR/ASSISTANT PROFESSOR in Hebrew Bible and Cognate Studies.

The rank is open. The successful applicant can be appointed to a permanent professorship or a fixed-term associate/assistant professorship (tenure track system), depending on his or her qualifications and career stage.

The duties of the professor/associate professor/assistant professor will include scientific research, teaching based on it and participation in international collaboration and community engagement in the field. In addition to teaching lectures and courses, the professor/associate professor/assistant professor will supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students and participate in the development of Bachelor’s and Master’s programs. In addition to the Hebrew Bible the appointee is expected to conduct research and teaching in one or more of the following: ancient near east, early (and rabbinic) Judaism, Septuagint, Qumran, and near eastern archeology.
