INTERNATIONALISATION OF UNIVERSITIES – WHAT DOES IT TAKE AND GIVE IN PRACTICE?

What do universities mean by internationalisation? What does internationalisation mean to you personally? Does it involve gender-related issues? How do foreign researchers, especially women, experience Finnish universities? What makes the “new” internationalisation superior to the “old” internationalisation? These and other aspects of gender and internationalisation of universities will be discussed in a panel by:

• Vice-rector Anna Mauranen (HU)

• Senior advisor Eeva Kaunismaa (Ministry of Education and Science)

• Professor Paula Eerola (HU, Board member of the Academy of Finland)

• Professor Sarah Green (HU)

• Master of Arts, Project worker, Päivi Laurén (Helsinki Region Environmental Services Authority)

• Doctoral student Tricia Cleland Silva (Hanken)

• Doctoral student Amalia Verdu (HU)

There will also be time for questions and comments.

The seminar will be held on Thursday 27 February 2014 at 14.00-16.45 o’clock in the Helsinki University Main Library (Kaisa House, Fabianinkatu 30, 7th floor)
