In the year 2015 ISHA International celebrates its 25th Anniversary – so does ISHA Helsinki. Although our organisation was established in 1993, there have been active ISHA people in Helsinki since 1989. We were there when ISHA was officially established in May 1990.
We celebrate 25 years of broadening perspectives of Finnish students and enabling collaboration over national borders. For the first time in history ISHA Helsinki is holding an Annual ball. The ball will be held 16.5.2015.

You are dearly welcome to celebrate the 25th anniversary of International Students of History Association Helsinki at Alina Hall on Saturday, 16th of May! We’re celebrating a quarter-century of broadening the perspectives of Finnish students and making the collaboration over national borders easier. Students from Helsinki were among the original forming members of ISHA in 1990.*
The anniversary celebration will be the first of its kind. Heikki Aittokoski, a distinguished foreign affairs journalist of the country’s largest paper Helsingin Sanomat and a former ISHA active, will be the honorary guest speaker at the celebration.
The celebration is held on the third floor of the New Student House. We will begin with welcome drinks at 5 pm. At 6 pm sharp we will be seated and a three course meal will be served (for menu, see below).
After the feast the less formal part of the evening will commence: it’s time for the afterparty! There will be dancing, karaoke and (naturally) a sauna! The afterparty starts at the same location at 11.30 pm, so you can also join us then if you were unable to secure a place for the dinner.
An academic herring-breakfast (“sillis”) will take place the following morning at 11 am at Weber, New Student House. The sillis will be held as a potluck party. Good music, good company and good food will give you a gentle descent into everyday life.
Signing up starts on April 9th for invited guests and will open for everyone on April 13th at 12.00 pm. The registration will end on May 10th or once all the seats have been sold. The registration form will be updated here and on mailing lists on April 13th 12.00pm.
