4. Representation and Inequality

Minority representation in media is a topic hotly discussed in recent years but as historians, it is our duty to take a broader look at phenomena. In this workshop, we aim to do just that. Political representation was something minorities had to fight for until recently and in some cases still do and if we go even further we have to acknowledge that minorities are often not represented at all in our historical sources.

In our workshop, we want to give room to all these aspects of representation and look at ways to take them into account when working as historians. Whether it is in ancient, medieval or modern history we need to be aware of the fact that inequality in representation skews all our perceptions and what we can do to mitigate that.
