Vilja Alanko (Faculty of Theology) and Janne Salminen (Faculty of Arts) have served as doctoral candidate representatives in the board for the Doctoral programme in Gender, Culture, and Society (SKY) for the two-year term of 2018–2019. Both are now leaving their positions and are willing to part some insights.

Mistä vaaleista on kyse? 

Tohtoriohjelmien, tutkijakoulujen ja tohtorikoulutuksen johtoryhmän tohtorikoulutettavien edustajat valitaan marraskuussa. Tämä on hieno mahdollisuus olla mukana päätöksenteossa ja valitsemassa kuka edustaa sinua tohtoriohjelmasi ja -koulusi johtoryhmässä sekä tohtorikoulutuksen johtoryhmässä, joka on koko yliopiston tohtorikoulutusta ohjaava toimielin. Tohtorikoulutettavien edustajana oleminen on monella tasolla antoisa kokemus, jonka kautta pääset vaikuttamaan tohtorikoulutuksen kehitykseen.

• Tohtoriohjelmia on 32 ja kunkin tohtoriohjelman johtoryhmään valitaan kaksi (2) edustajaa.
• Tutkijakouluja on neljä ja niiden johtoryhmiin valitaan yksi (1) edustaja.
• Tohtorikoulutuksen johtoryhmään valitaan 1 edustaja koko yliopistosta.Vaalien aikataulu:Asetu ehdolle 1.-14. lokakuuta 2019 välisenä aikana. Johtoryhmiin, joihin on enemmän ehdokkaita kuin paikkoja, äänestys järjestetään 29.10. – 7.11.2019.Kuka voi asettua ehdolle edustajaksi?Jokainen tohtorikoulutettava voi olla ehdolla oman tohtoriohjelmansa ja/tai tutkijakoulunsa johtoryhmään ja/tai tohtorikoulutuksen johtoryhmään. Asettuaksesi ehdolle tulee, sinun olla ilmoittautunut läsnä olevaksi tohtoriopiskelijaksi lukuvuodeksi 2019-2020!Miten asetun ehdolle?Asetu ehdolle täyttämällä oheinen e-lomake, jossa sinua pyydetään kertomaan nimesi, tiedekuntasi, tohtoriohjelmasi, pääaineesi ja tohtoriopintojen aloitusvuosi. Kirjoita myös esittelyteksti (1000 merkkiä) jossa kerrot miksi olet kiinnostunut tehtävästä, mitä tekisit johtoryhmän jäsenenä ja miksi sinua pitäisi äänestää. Tämän lisäksi sinun tulee liittää itsestäsi kuva liitetiedostona. Esimerkiksi mobiiliselfie käy hyvin.

  Doktorandernas nya representanter i doktorandprogrammen, forskarskolorna samt styrgruppen för doktorsutbildning väljs i november. Det här är en ypperlig chans att delta i beslutsfattandet och välja vem som representerar dig i ditt doktorandprogram och din forskarskola samt i styrgruppen för doktorsutbildning, som är ett organ som styr doktorsutbildningen i hela universitetet. Att fungera som representant är belönande på många plan samtidigt som det är en möjlighet att förbättra utbildningen ur doktorandernas perspektiv.

• Till styrgruppen av varje doktorandprogram väljs 2 representanter.
• Till styrgruppen av varje forskarskola väljs 1 representant.
• Till styrgruppen för doktorsutbildning väljs 1 representant.Tidtabell:Ställ upp som kandidat 1–14 oktober. I styrgrupper med fler kandidater än mandat, kommer en omröstning att ordnas 29 oktober- 7 november.
  Vem kan ställa upp som kandidat?

Varje doktorand kan ställa upp som kandidat antingen till styrgruppen i sin forskarskola eller/och styrgruppen i sitt doktorandprogram och/eller styrgruppen för doktorsutbildning. Mandatperioden är två år, 1.1.2020–31.12.2021.För att ställa upp som kandidat bör du vara anmäld närvarande läsåret 2019-2020.

Hur kandiderar man?

Ställ upp som kandidat genom att fylla i den elektroniska blanketten nedan, där vi ber dig berätta ditt namn, din fakultet, ditt doktorandprogram, ditt huvudämne, samt vilket år du påbörjade doktorsstudierna. Skriv också en kort presentationstext (högst 1000 tecken) där du berättar varför du är intresserad av uppgiften, vad du skulle göra som medlem av styrgruppen och varför man borde rösta på dig. Dessutom bör du bifoga en bild av dig själv (en mobilselfie går bra!).

What are the elections about?

The new doctoral candidate representatives for doctoral programs, doctoral schools and the steering group of doctoral education are elected in November. This is a great opportunity to be involved in the decision making, and choose who is representing you in your respective doctoral programme, doctoral school and the steering group of doctoral education which is a steering group for doctoral education for the entire university. Being a student representative is a rewarding experience on many levels and an opportunity to improve the doctoral education.

• 2 representatives will be elected to the steering group of each doctoral program.
• 1 representative will be elected to the steering group of each doctoral school.
• 1 representative will be elected to the steering group of doctoral education.Schedule

Announce your candidacy between 1st and 14th of October. In cases of more applicants than mandates, an election will take place from 29th of October to 7th of November.

Who can candidate?

Every doctoral student can be candidate for the steering committee in her/his own doctoral program and/or in her/his own doctoral school and/or in the steering group of doctoral education. The term is two years, starting January first 2020 and ending December 31st 2021. In order to candidate you must be registered as present for academic year 2019-2020!

How do you run as candidate?

In order to candidate please fill in the E-form provided here. In the form we ask to write your name, faculty, doctoral program, major and the starting year of the PhD studies. In addition, we ask you to write a brief (max. 1000 characters) introduction about yourself. Please explain why you are interested in the position, what would be the most important topics to promote if you are elected to the steering committee and why people should vote you. You must also upload a picture of yourself (a mobile selfie suits well!).
