LUENTOJEN KUVAUKSIA
Daniel Ventus: Wellbeing as a doctoral student
In the workshop we will discuss common challenges that doctoral students face, for example stress management, social isolation and dealing with your supervisor. The setup will be a series of short presentations, followed by discussions in small groups where you are able to share your experiences. The workshop will be led by Daniel Ventus, who got his PhD in psychology from Åbo Akademi in October 2019.
Matti Miestamo + Kaius Sinnemäki: Kielitypologia I+II
Typologinen, kieltenvälinen tieto on hyödyllistä kaikille kielentutkijoille, vaikkei oma tutkimus kovin lähellä typologiaa olisikaan. Vaikka oma tutkimus koskisi jotakin ilmiötä vain yhdessä kielessä, laajempi kieltenvälinen perspektiivi avaa uusia polkuja. Tällä kursilla voit saada lisää ymmärrystä siitä, mistä nuo polut lähtevät.
Isosävi & Lindholm: After the PhD: 10 tips for a succesful academic career

Huom. Osalla tauoista on mahdollista liittyä omatoimisesti vertaistuki-verkostoitumispienryhmiin (Breakout rooms), mikäli käytössä on Zoom-ohjelman tietokoneversio 5.3.0 tai uudempi (ChromeOS:ssä 5.0.0). Tämä ominaisuus EI toimi Zoomin selainversioissa, joten päivitetyn kännykkä- tai tietokoneversion käyttö on suositeltavaa.
ILMOITTAUTUMINEN
Ilmoittautuminen on auki läpi Joulukoulun.

NB. During some of the breaks Breakout rooms are open for networking and peer support; you can self-select which room to join if you use a version 5.3.0 or higher of the desktop client or the mobile app of Zoom (version 5.0.0 for ChromeOS). This function is NOT available in the Zoom web client, so it is recommended that you use an updated version of the desktop client or the mobile app.
REGISTRATION
Registration is open throughout the Winter School. Registration is recommended that you register so that the coordinator gets your email address and can contact you should there be any last-minute changes to the program, for example. However, registration is not required, but those registered by December 10 will received the required readings, if any, on December 11 by email.
You can register here.
The winter school is open for all PhD Candidates and researchers at and alumni of the Langnet member universities and there are no course fees.
The A4-sized posters will be uploaded to the Langnet Winter School homepage prior to the online poster session. In the poster session, each person presenting a poster can briefly introduce their poster. After that, it is possible to continue discussions in small groups. The time and date of the poster session will be announced soon.
The posters (A4-sized, pdf format) should be sent by email to the Langnet coordinator (laura.ivaska@abo.fi) by December 14.
Tips for making posters:
- Posters function as conversation starters rather than try to convey all information regarding a piece of research; a poster could focus on the theme of the research in general or on the research question(s), material(s) and/or method(s)
- Posters need to be concise: it is advisable to have only 1 topic, 2 fonts, 3 colors, max. 300–500 words on the poster, and to pay attention to having a clear structure that guides the reader
- Posters are presented, which means that it might be a good idea to prepare in advance 1) short walk-throughs that cover the most important points of the poster, 2) answers to the most likely questions, and 3) for the most interested audience, insights into the aspects of the research not covered in the poster
