The new student representatives for doctoral programs and schools are elected in October 2015. This is a great opportunity to be involved in the decision making or simply be aware of who your representative is and who you can talk to. Because being a student representative is a rewarding experience on many levels and because it can help both you and your fellow students improve the doctoral education, the association warmly recommends you to candidate!
The call for candidacy is 5th October – 15th October
You get to vote for your candidate between 19th October – 31st October
Who can candidate?
Every doctoral student can candidate for the steering committee either in her/his own doctoral program or in her/his own doctoral school, provided that he/she was listed to a doctoral program on 1st of October. The mandate period is two years.
What we wish from you
- possibility to be a representative for a period of two years, 2016-2017
- the will to be a link between doctoral students and staff members
- interest to improve the doctoral education
- knowledge of both Finnish and English is preferable (the steering committees work in Finnish or English but the documents are usually in Finnish)
You get
- to influence the decision making – your voice is equal to the other members in the steering group
- inside information on the inner workings of the University
- to meet influential people
- depending on your program you might also get study credits
