Trash or food? A historical perspective on sustainability of fish as food  

Recent discussions on sustainable food production and consumption have highlighted the role of less valuable fish species, whose history remains overlooked. A recent study in environmental history has analysed changes concerning the value and the consumption of various fish species in Finnish society during the 20th century. The study moreover aims at provoking Finns to appreciate local species in addition to changing our consumption of fish in more sustainable.
