Joensuussa Kielitieteen päivien yhteydessä 17.5.2019 pidettiin Langnetin ohjaajien kokous, joka valitsi professori Urpo Nikanteen (ÅA) Langnetin johtajaksi kaudelle 2020-2023.  Åbo Akademista tulee näin Langnet-verkoston uusi kotiyliopisto. Matti Miestamo (HY) jatkaa Langnetin johtajana kauden 2016-2019 loppuun. Langnetin vapaamuotoisessa yleiskokouksessa keskusteltiin Langnet-verkoston jatkosta. Kokous evästi johtoryhmää ja tulevaa johtajaa toiveilla tulevasta toiminnasta.

Professor Urpo Nikanne (Åbo Akademi) was elected the director for the new Langnet period (2020-2023) by the Langnet supervisors’ meeting in Joensuu 17.5.2019. Professor Matti Miestamo (University of Helsinki) will continue until the end of the current Langnet period (2016-2019). The supervisors’ meeting was followed by the Langnet free-form general meeting which discussed the future of the Langnet network in the upcoming four-year period.
