The workshop is a learning community and a dialogical arena of shared knowledge construction for experts and university researchers who undertake practice research as part of their work.

The workshop participants meet about seven times a year to discuss such themes as supervision of theses and dissertations or joint publications that are being prepared.

The workshop operates as part of the professional licentiate studies in social work organised by the University of Helsinki, and as part of doctoral studies in social sciences. The professor of social work practice research is in charge of the activities, and other social work teachers and researchers at the University of Helsinki also participate in the supervision of research.
