The Heikki Waris Institute’s activities are steered by the advisory group of Socca, the Centre of Expertise on Social Welfare in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area, which has representatives from

•  municipalities in the Helsinki metropolitan area
• the University of Helsinki
• the primary healthcare unit of HUS (Hospital District of Helsinki and Uusimaa).

The Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Helsinki and, in particular, the professor of  social work practice research and university lecturers are in charge of the Institute’s scientific research, development of research-based expertise in social work, and practice teaching for social workers.

The Praxis activities have their own steering structure.
