”You should act like every measurement you start is going to continue forever, but the people in charge of the measurements and data flow would move on to different tasks the next week,” says Pasi Kolari, university researcher at the University of Helsinki. In the geography teaching in higher education we have noticed that more open data sources, rise of open source software, and call for open publishing have affected also to our ways to teach. Because teaching and research are going hand in hand in higher education, so are open science and open learning too.

A webinar on estimating the quality of open access journals – and other open science events in May
Helsinki University Library organises a webinar, which will introduce UH researchers to the characteristic features of predatory publishers and journals and explain by which criteria one can tell the good journals from the predatory journals. Avoimen tieteen tutkimusinfrastruktuurin rakentamisessa keskeistä on yhteisten linjausten huolellinen valmistelu, organisaatiolle sopivan toteutusstrategian valinta ja koko työyhteisön sitouttaminen. Näin summaa Aino Juslén Helsingin yliopiston Luonnontieteellisestä keskusmuseosta (Luomus). Luomuksen koordinoimassa Lajitietokeskuksessa tieteen avoimuutta toteutetaan eri tavoin (avoin data, avoin lähdekoodi, avoin opetus). Blogiartikkeli avaa avoimen tieteen infrastruktuureja esittelevän juttusarjan.
Avoimen tutkimustiedon asialla jo vuodesta 2008 – Hankehaavista löytyvät tiedot tutkimushankkeista
Hankehaavi on koonnut luonnonvara-alojen tutkimushankkeiden tietoja yhteen paikkaan 12 vuoden ajan. Päivittyvä verkkohakemisto antaa kokonaiskuvaa tutkimuskentästä, sekä meneillään olevista että päättyneistä tutkimushankkeista. Tällä hetkellä haettavana on yli 10 000 hankkeen tiedot.
